Manulife Wealth & Asset Management has agreed to acquire PT Schroder Investment Management Indonesia ( Schroders Indonesia ) to broaden its customer base and the range of investment solutions available to clients. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
The transaction is expected to close following the satisfactory completion of certain closing conditions, including regulatory approval from Otoritas Jasa Keuangan ( OJK ), Indonesia’s financial services authority. Until the acquisition is completed, both firms will continue to operate independently and maintain full regulatory compliance.
Manulife Wealth & Asset Management’s presence in Indonesia dates back to 1996, when it established PT Manulife Aset Manajemen Indonesia ( MAMI ), now the country’s largest asset manager.
Schroders Indonesia has built a strong business over the past three decades, becoming the fifth largest asset manager in Indonesia and the country’s largest independent asset management platform. It has strong, locally relevant investment capabilities, deep client relationships, and a proven track record, making the franchise a highly desirable addition to MAMI.
As of June 30, 2025, MAMI managed 101.7 trillion rupiah ( US$6.07 billion ) in assets and served over 2.5 million customers, while Schroders Indonesia managed assets totalling more than 56 trillion rupiah.
Together, the two companies say, they will deliver scale and compete more effectively in an increasingly complex market environment, while continuing to deliver exceptional outcomes for clients.
